the rest is not silence but belongs to me

every time I listen to the starship soundtrack my respect for the starkids grows exponentially

because the individualism v. collectivism involved in the comparisons between the starship rangers and the insects

because plato’s republic:

  • when you’re an insect, you have a purpose, like it or not from a fly to a flea
  • the needs of the many bugs outweigh the few
  • the greatest life to live is found right here
  • we’ve all got a job to do and it’s how we all survive by giving our lives to the hive
  • I wanna be something that can serve the greater good of our race, I’ll do anything

because they’ve created a protagonist whose greatest drive is to escape the totalitarian society in which he lives, which is literally and metaphorically completely alien to the way we understand the world and which at first seems brutal and dystopian

and they’ve then reconciled that with the message that the hive is just a different way of life, that it represents the good life for some, that even though it’s strange and frightening at first it still has value and beauty to it

and all starkid is like this, it’s so amazingly layered and complex and there are so many angles you can approach it from and get more and more out of it and I just love them all so much thank you I’m done now

‟Hate Gryffindor House? Get out of my face, Malfoy!”

Hey tell everybody to tone the party down, okay? And tell Wonder Woman that her eagle brassiere can be found on the floor of my bedroom. And - and that I saw her naked boobies.

Holy Musical B@tman would have been better with more Lauren Lopez

just like everything I have ever watched in my life.
